Time for a ‘Reboot’

I think we can all agree the past year has been stressful for everyone.  While we are all hoping things will return to “normal” soon, that doesn’t mean the stress will magically disappear.  With April being Stress Awareness Month it seemed like an appropriate time to provide information and resources to help you better manage stress you may be feeling at this time.

As a strengths-based organization we tend to focus on how you can utilize your strengths every day.  An interesting article, published June 9, 2020 from Gallup titled ‘How Strengths, Wellbeing and Engagement Reduce Burnout’, identified the top three CliftonStrengths themes associated with a healthy navigation of stress as Arranger, Positivity and Self-Assurance.  If these themes lie in your top 5 Strengths, great!  If not, don’t worry, there are plenty of resources available to help you manage your stress.

The Mayo Clinic offers the following tips or activities to help with stress relief:

• Get active
• Eat a healthy diet
• Avoid unhealthy habits
• Meditate
• Laugh more
• Connect with others
• Assert yourself
• Try yoga
• Get enough sleep
• Keep a journal
• Get musical and be creative
• Seek counseling

In addition, the company Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through MetLife offers numerous resources in their Stress Management Toolkit for managing stress at home, in the workplace, with finances, and more.  To access the resources in the toolkit click on the Stress Management Toolkit link and use username: metlifeeap, password: eap.
