Fall Stewardship Update

Stewardship Challenge News

Our Stewardship Challenge contestants are still competing to see who can make the most out of their investment! On January 1st, 2013, Brad Gardner (Epitopix: Production Supervisor), Fred Lee Jr. (Ag Forte: Prairie Knoll Breeder Manager) and Landon J. Fries (NTE: Product Realization Manager) were given $333.33 in the spirit of exercising our company value of Stewardship in a 5 year financial challenge. Here is this quarterly report:

  • Brad’s college savings account for his son grew 1.75% bringing the current value to $408.32. (Last we checked in he was at $401.30).
  • Fred Lee Jr. sold his Starbucks stock on 8/21 for $158.52 when he saw it dropping in price (leaving him with a total of $320.91). Fred originally paid $170.94 for the stock therefore losing $12.42 in the transaction. He recognizes that had he left it were it was he would actually be back in the positive by now. Fred has been in recovery from his neck surgery and getting a new flock so hasn’t made his next move yet, but is excited to get back into things pretty soon.
  • Landon is still in the process of refurbishing a John Deere lawn tractor. His goal is to get it all back together this fall and begin to list for sale. Landon still has a balance of $0 and all of the money is into this project. He is hoping to sell for a profit and begin to look for another item to flip. What a great variety of investment strategies. Thanks for the updates guys! It is exciting to see how these investments progress.

Agforte Central safety training

Last Wednesday, Agforte Central invited Mr. Gary Kukal, a National Safety Council Certified Instructor, on site to train all managers and service men on CPR/First-Aid. This class took a whole day out of their busy schedules and a big thank you to them for taking this time! Here’s some pictures from the fun:

Turkey Recipes & Tips!

Baby Turkey Dinner

This week’s recipe is brought to you by Dustin Marker (LSI Business Analyst);

“Here is a turkey recipe my wife made for our son. I added a little color commentary that you can feel free to edit or eliminate. Also, attached is a picture of the little man and the final product.

  • Cook raw carrots and peas.
  • Cook turkey breast and use a food processor to puree cooked turkey.
  • Mix 2 cups cooked veggies and ½ cup turkey and use a food processor to blend together.
  • Add a couple of ounces of mom’s milk or formula and blend together.
  • To store, fill a half cup into a milk bag and push out the air, then seal.
  • Freeze for future use.

My wife, Allison, recently introduced meat to our little man Hudson (almost seven months new). Obviously, the first meat choice was turkey and obviously the brand of choice was the highest quality and most affordable in the world, Turkey Valley Farms. My wife prefers to make a lot of her own baby food, which is easy and affordable, rather than buy the stuff off the grocery store shelf. She made him a combination called Baby Turkey Dinner that includes carrots, peas, turkey breast, and milk. I know, that also makes me anticipate that thanksgiving dinner coming around the corner soon. When she fed it to him the first time he “gobbled” it up and left nothing for the chickens to eat. Sorry, I went a little too far on the poultry puns. But seriously, he was very excited when she fed it to him and looked at mom like, ‘This is amazing! Why haven’t I had this before?’ ”

If you have any home brew turkey recipes please send them over and we’ll include them in an upcoming update!
