Thanksgiving Turkeys
The Presidential pardon of turkeys for Thanksgiving has been observed since 1947 and this year’s birds hail from Minnesota! The turkeys being pardoned this year were grown by NTF Chair, John Zimmerman, and were hatched at Headstart Hatching. Peter Gruhl, Director of Sales, for Next Nest Hatching will assist in transporting the birds to the White House for this honor. Fun fact: in 2011, the pardoned turkeys were raised within our organization and Rick Huisinga, Life-Science Innovations CEO, presented the turkeys to President Obama for pardoning. To learn more about this unique Thanksgiving tradition check out this article from CNN or go to eatturkey.com.
