Innovation & aerial perspectives

Hi!

Thanks to all for the positive feedback on the new update! This week there isn’t as much going on but we still have a few nifty updates.

From GM Kurt Schimek:

FSE set out to exercise the value of innovation at our corn receiving scale. Some grain elevators have started using a badge system to identify the truck and the scale. The badge can also weigh the truck out automatically after the load has been dumped. Corn procurement manager Gary Ascheman researched many vendors who sell this technology which all gave bids for over $50,000.

Randy Marcus, with the help of scale operator Marilyn Edman and other FSE team members, created the program for a fraction of the cost. The new system (shown in the attached pictures) has added speed and convenience to both operations and our grain customers. On a typical fall day, FSE will receive in excess of 120 trucks/ day across the scale with speed and accuracy being crucial. The system has added great value to the FSE receiving operation.  A big thank you to Randy Marcus and the members of the FSE team who brought innovation to another segment of our business.

Turkey Recipes:

I have been getting quite a few people *cough* Randy Young *cough* Michelle Falling *cough* suggesting (demanding) that we add a weekly turkey recipe to the update. So here it goes!

Since I actually tried a new turkey recipe this weekend, I figure I could start us off. Granted, I did just steal it from the internet, but who’s keeping score?

I made a few changes of course. For starters, I completely skipped the paste over top because I didn’t read that far in the instructions and ended up mixing those ingredients into the whole batch (oops).

I substituted the brown sugar for coconut sugar and used some stray honey BBQ sauce instead of hot pepper sauce because I have weak Scandinavian taste buds & the pepper sauce would have increased the chances my wife wouldn’t eat it.

If you have some tried and true turkey recipes or if you recently did some wild experimenting (like I did) on a fresh recipe, please send them to me (at Mike.Bregel@life-scienceinnovations.com) and I’ll include them in the update for everyone to try!

Brianna Huisinga and I recently took to the skies to get some updated aerial shots of the MinnWest Campus, FSE and some local barns. Thanks to Bryce Berg for taking us up and delivering a smooth ride!
