February Update

Nova-Tech Engineering at IPPE

Submitted by Manon Claux-Conway

It was a great show for Nova-Tech Engineering. Overall show attendance was lower than usual, but it made for more pointed conversations and more time with our customers than usual. We had interests from potential customers from Latin America, North Africa and other African countries. Our latest poultry system release, the Hatchling Support System, was on display at our booth, and a lot of our meetings were focused on this new product (services include Beak Treatment and Subcutaneous Injection with Rollers) and is focused on animal wellbeing with our Best For Bird initiative.

The other focus of the show was to discuss our Nutrient Delivery Station, a new service to be available on the Modular Poultry Services Processor (MPSP – platform that combines Beak Treatment, Claw Treatment – 6 claw and 4/5 claw – and subcutaneous injection). The Nutrient Delivery Station will first be available for turkey hatcheries and is a revolutionary service that allows the delivery of product directly into the bird’s crop (stomach).

2022 is a big year for Nova-Tech Engineering, as we are celebrating 30 years in business! We hosted a Happy Hour at our booth, inviting customers, industry stakeholders and also made new contacts. One interesting fact is that we have made a couple new contacts from the aqua industry that we were not expecting, mentioning that along with being present in the poultry industry for 30 years, we’ve recently launched a new product in the shrimp processing market.

The International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) is held the end of January each year at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.  It is the world’s largest annual poultry, meat and feed industry event of its kind and draws attendees from 130 countries!

SEL First Aid Training

The Select Genetics | Virginia breeder and hatchery employees recently participated in CPR & First Aid training including learning the Heimlich maneuver with Choking Charlie.

Heart Health Month

February is HEART Health Month!  Make Heart Health Part of Your Self-Care Routine

Devoting a little time every day to care for yourself can go a long way toward protecting the health of your heart. Simple self-care, such as taking a moment to de-stress, giving yourself time to move more, preparing healthier meals, and not cheating on sleep can all benefit your heart.

And that’s a good thing, because heart disease is largely preventable and focusing on improving your heart health has never been more important. Heart disease is a leading cause of death for women and men in the United States, and many Americans remain at risk of getting it, according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI).

“Studies show self-care routines, such as taking a daily walk and keeping doctor’s appointments, help us keep our blood pressure in the healthy range and reduce our risk of heart disease and stroke,” said David Goff, M.D., NHLBI’s director of cardiovascular sciences.

It may be easier than you think to “put your heart” into your daily routine. Each Sunday, look at your week’s schedule and carve out 30 minutes daily for heart-healthy practices.
