June Update

The month of June is National Turkey Lover’s month!  As an organization heavily involved in the turkey industry from many different aspects, it seems appropriate that we would celebrate this and highlight how you can incorporate more turkey into your menu.  Whether you’re a fan of the classic Thanksgiving roast, deli-style turkey sandwiches, or love to enjoy a turkey burger hot off the grill, this month is all about enjoying the versatility of turkey!  Try some new recipes, explore different marinades and spices, or mix things up by adding turkey to your favorite dish!  Both the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association and the National Turkey Federation have an assortment of turkey recipes for you to experiment with. Get your grill out and enjoy!

New Poultry Division

Submitted by Nova-Tech Engineering

We’re excited to announce that we’ve recently created a Poultry Division! Our Poultry Division is similar to our Nova-Tech China Division and our future ShrimpWorks Division, with the goal of better serving each industry and its customers. Nova-Tech Engineering’s Poultry Division has been created as a way to focus on this area of our business and complement our growth. With this growth comes changes within our company and structure that we are eager to see come to life. Thank you to all of our team members who are stepping into this new division and the continued dedication they bring. The poultry industry remains of utmost importance to us as we continue to live our purpose of “creating revolutionary solutions that advance our customers’ ability to feed the world.”

Retirement

Congratulations to Galen “Puff” PuffenbargerAI Crew Leader for Select Genetics – VA Breeder Division, on his retirement!  Puff retired on April 5th after 52 Years of Services to the organization.  He started working at the breeder division the summer he was 17 years old and never left.  The team celebrated his retirement with a company retirement dinner.  Also, pictured below is a photo of Puff helping to load out the very last birds of the division at the company farm.  Emily Burke, Breeder Planning Coordinator stated, “It’s a true testament to his dedication to the job all these years.”  Enjoy your retirement Puff!

Leadership Perspectives

Congratulations to John Byers, LSI Ag Business Analyst, and Tayla Boersma, MinnWest Project Assistant, on their graduation from the Leadership Perspectives program the end of May!  This year marked the 32nd graduating class.  Each year 30+ individuals participate in this program through the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce.  The program is designed to develop effective community leaders with vision and insight.  Participants attend one full day session each month from September through May focusing on issues critical to our region’s future success.

National Safety Month

As we observe National Safety Month, it’s crucial to spotlight the life-saving impact of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). According to the American Heart Association, there are more than 357,000 EMS-assessed out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) each year in the U.S., and nearly 90% are fatal. AEDs, designed for ease of use by laypersons, significantly increase the chances of survival when used promptly. Statistics show that 9 in 10 cardiac arrest victims who receive a shock from an AED in the first minute live. Do you know where AEDs are located in your workplace? Have you noticed AEDs at sporting events or other public venues? Pulse Point AED is a free app that helps you to identify where registered AEDs are located near you. These portable devices are vital in public spaces, schools, and workplaces, ensuring that help is always close at hand. By making AEDs more accessible and educating the public on their use, countless lives can be saved and safer environments created for everyone.
