Suchit Khadge is a SCSU student working at Nova-Tech Engineering as a Co-Op/Intern. Suchit is from Nepal, which recently suffered a devastating earthquake which left more than 4,000 people dead and roughly 100,000 homeless. He was recently featured in the West Central Tribune sharing his story and spreading awareness to help his country and his family. Here is an excerpt from the article with more details on the situation:
In Nepal’s capital city of Kathmandu, where he grew up and his family and many of his friends still live, the devastation is widespread. The destruction of their homes has forced many people to camp in tents and on sheets spread on the ground.
“People are really helpless. They don’t have food or shelter,” he said. “People have lost their dear ones, their homes. They’ve lost their history. They have lost their faith too.”
Priceless cultural treasures, many of them on the list of Unesco World Heritage sites, have been badly damaged or destroyed.
“When I go back, I won’t be seeing all those monuments and temples and historic buildings I grew up with. It will be really changed,” Khadge said.
The task of rebuilding will be enormous, he said. Some of the more remote mountain villages can only be reached by a two-day journey on foot. The road system is limited and there’s only one international airport.

Stewardship Challenge Update
Our three Stewardship Challenge contestants are still competing to see who can make the most out of the company’s $333.33 investment in them! They’ve completed about ½ of their challenge time now (almost 2.5 years out of the 5 year challenge). Here are updates from each of them!
• Brad Gardner: Gained 1.8% since the last check in to a total of $393.43 in a college savings account.
• Fred Lee Jr: $333.33 safely in the bank.
• Landon Fries: $661.34 – $250 (asset purchase). Landon now has $411.34 in his account after purchasing and starting to refurbish a 1965 John Deere lawn tractor. Once he’s got it running and looking good he is hoping to make a profit going into the summer months. He also provided pictures of his progress!
In this same 2.5 year timeframe, the total U.S. stock market has raised approximately 65%. If these three would have immediately invested in a low-cost index fund on day one their current balance would be around $550.
