Rewards, Recognition and Raillery

NTE Manufacturing ‘Thank You’

It all started when Nova-Tech Engineering reviewed their results from the Q12 Employee Engagement Survey. NTE leadership realized that one main area there was room to grow in was Rewards and Recognition. They had Mark Deterding (from Triune Leadership Services) come in and give some coaching on how to improve. Mark explained that a good technique is to connect the dots for the employees and help them realize the importance of their role in the overall organization.

Taking that feedback, Paul Jossart (Manufacturing Manager) and his team got the idea to tell Customer Service “thank you” for all that they do. The Customer Service team is traveling consistently & they are instrumental in growing our worldwide market. Lori Thue (Quality Improvement Associate) ran with idea and contacted us (LSI Org Dev) to help visualize the plan. An added bonus about this project is that it utilized Lori’s green cards. In case you haven’t taken the ‘Go, Put Your Strengths to Work’ class or need a refresher, your green cards are the activities in your role that you love and look forward to. View video below for the finished product that was produced to show to the CS team in appreciation for their work.

NTE Manufacturing took advantage of a scheduled time during the Customer Service Training week to show them the ‘Thank You’ video. After the video was shown, several members of the Manufacturing team literally went around the room to shake hands and thank each Customer Service Rep for their awesome work (See photo below)! Paul made it a point to mention that he and his department have jobs because of the great work that the Customer Service team does.

Having Fun

There hasn’t been much to laugh at in relation to the work to prevent another AI outbreak. It’s serious business. However, this past week when we were editing a new hatchery biosecurity video we decided to do a 1-take voiceover to create a smile for our brave acting volunteer Josh Liestman (Production Supervisor at the Willmar Hatchery). He laughed. We laughed. Since then we’ve shown this around to a few others and they laughed. Josh was gracious enough to give us his permission to spread the joy to all of you. So start the video up if you need a smile by looking deep into the mind of our actor Josh, as translated by Kristi Degree (LSI Corporate Training & PR Specialist).

Even More Fun

The handiwork of Mr. Aaron D. Bonnema (NTE Prototype Technician) has been surprising suspecting & unsuspecting victims last week. Just when you thought your workday had fallen into a rut of saying “hello” to the same faces every day in the hallway, you are surprised to see an extra twinkle in their eye. Then, there it is, covering your keyboard, the source of so many coworker’s smiles; A blueish mass resembling Gumby if he was melted down and poured over your keyboard. Yes, this is collaboration at its finest.

On Friday, June 17th, anonymous members from NTE and LSI with the help of LuAnn Sieben (NTE Executive Admin), attempted to prank NTE president Jim Sieben with said device (see picture below). The Keyboard actually made its way around Nova-Tech and infiltrated our own team (since we are temporarily located in the 3rd floor NTE Cottage) before it saw Jim’s desk.

Little did the pranksters know, that because Jim grew up with practical joker friends, he has become fully desensitized to being pranked. Jim has stated that the best defense against practical jokes is to not react, preventing your friends from getting the last laugh. See Video below of the attempted prank on Jim.
