Stewardship Challenge News
We’re due for another update here at the halfway point of our 5-year Stewardship Challenge! Here are the stats from our contestants, who were challenged to make the most of an investment in them of $333.33 on January 1st, 2013.
- Brad has invested in his son’s future and placed the money in a college savings plan. He earned 2% this quarter and his total investment stands at $401.30
- Fred Lee Jr. has made a move with a portion of his investment and recently purchased $180 of stock in something he loves dearly – coffee. He’s hoping his Starbucks stock gives his investment strategy a pick-me-up (this stock has more than doubled in the past 2.5 years – so maybe he’s on to something). He’s still deciding on how to put his remaining $153.33 to work for him.
- Landon has invested all of his cash in refurbishing a John Deere lawn tractor and is currently sitting on $0 in cash and an asset that he’s estimating at a $600 value in its present state.

VA Cookouts
See pictures below from the recent Virginia Breeder Division (AI crew & Wengers Mill) grill out. Evans Darko was the grill master and Buddy Eberly acted as grill “coach”. The motley crew sitting on the bench is (Left to right) Wanda Carr (WM), John Herrion (AI), Craig Wichael (Serviceman), and Galen “PUFF” Puffenbarger (AI supervisor). The 4 guys sitting inside around the round table (5th photo) are (Left to right) Orlando Santiago Figueroa (insemination), Hugo Cano Torres (AI Crew Lead), Geovannie Nieves Diaz (insemination), Jesus Soler Serpa (insemination). Everyone ate indoors because the heat index that day was over 100 degrees!
Below pictures are from the Virginia Hatchery cookout. Lake Hensley was manning the grill and as usual Buddy Eberly was “monitoring” everything. They had a contest to see who could guess the number of candy pieces in large tea dispenser, pictured below is the winner; Jessica Spangler(1st photo). There were also visitors from Willmar Logistics, who just happen to be in the area to enjoy the grilling ;).
LSI and Affiliates Company Picnic
On Wednesday, July 29th we had our 2015 LSI and affiliates annual picnic (Beach party!). This years party was jam packed with great food, prizes, plenty of inflatable activities and more. Two of our LSI employees demonstrated some exemplary “employee well-being” at the very end of the picnic when they took a trip down the waterslide inflatable fully clothed(Sadly, no photos available)! A major shout out goes to Employee Services (Especially Brianna Huisinga for taking the lead in planning this event) and everyone who volunteered to help make it possible. Tim Starkenburg, Scott Rowe, and Austin Huisinga were kind enough to grill all of the meat! Many of the guests stayed late to help tear down and clean up, too (in addition to the many volunteers).
