Open Enrollment is here, so is winter..

Hello Everyone!

On Monday the 10th around noon it was 72 °F in Aurora, MO; 71 °F in Neosho; 63°F in Harrisonburg, VA; 60°F in Danville, OH; and in MN…a crisp 25-27°F with a healthy side of snow. I think I live in the wrong place…

This week we have a new recipe, information on open enrollment, referral questions answered, some imagery of your average Minnesota Monday and more!

Turkey Recipes


This week we have a fresh recipe from Kristi DeGree!

Turkey Tacos 

“This is a healthy alternative compared to beef tacos with tortillas. You can always substitute a tortilla instead of the lettuce wrap if you prefer.

At home, we prefer to eat this with some Spanish rice or possibly chips and salsa/guac. So, we basically make healthy tacos and then make up for eating something healthy with the chips and salsa. 🙂 Contradictory? Oh well..”

A word from Melissa Rowe about the 2015 benefit enrollment:

2015 BENEFIT ENROLLMENT IS NOW OPEN!

All employees will receive either an email providing details of how to get online or for those without company email – a postcard was sent to your home address.

If you need assistance with accessing the website, please contact Employee Services.

This is the time of year EVERYONE must reaffirm their benefit selections for the coming year effective 1/1/2015.

If you want no benefits at all – you still must sign into the system (using computer, ipad, or smartphone) and validate your choices to WAIVE elections.

If you want to keep everything the same next year as this year? We apologize, plan designs have changed and information was provided in benefit packets handed out in October. You will need to elect/waive with benefit choices relevant to 2015.

If you do not have internet access at home, your HR/Employee Services team is happy to help! Please stop by our office or give us a call. We will walk you through enrollment. We are also currently making appointments for you to come to a larger enrollment session where we will provide assistance with online enrollment. Please call Employee Services for dates/times {WILLMAR – LSI HR TRAINING ROOM WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 19}.”

We greatly appreciate and value the applicant referrals you pass along to help us find talented people for our open opportunities!  Keep them coming!  Since I have been receiving some questions about the referral program, I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of some of the guidelines we have in place for referral eligibility:

  • If more than one employee recommends an applicant, the first person to make the recommendation will receive the award.
  • Referrals for candidates hired as interns and to temporary positions do not qualify for the award.
  • No referrals will be awarded if the company is required to pay outside placement or recruiting fees connected with hiring the new employee.
  • No referrals will be awarded if the referred employee was previously a full-time, part-time, consultant, or temporary employee of Life-Science Innovations or Affiliate Companies
  • Hiring Managers/Supervisors who are referring someone to their team are not eligible
  • Any employee who attempts to persuade a Human Resources staff member, or Hiring Supervisor/Manager to hire a particular applicant will not be eligible
  • The reward value of a referral is $250 for full-time, hourly or salaried employed positions with affiliate companies | $100 for general farm labor positions.  Referral reward is paid out once the employee has been in his/her role for a period of six (6) months.
  • Both the referring employee and the referred employee must be actively employed with an affiliate company
  • Family member referrals are welcome, however, employees are not eligible if referring family members within their own department. 

If you have a referral, I prefer to receive them in one of two ways:

  1. Email me directly with the attached resume and cover letter of your referral stating the position they are interested and qualified for
  2. Send your referral the link to apply directly online – ask them to state your name in the form question, “How did you hear about this opening?” or ask them to state your name in their cover letter when they apply
