This is a critical role in ensuring that the turkey hatchery produces high-quality poults that meet industry standards and customer expectations. The Field Engineer applies technical expertise and independent judgment to ensure product designs and functionality perform as intended before and during field trials. REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A College Degree in a related field (Business, Agriculture) is preferred.
• Does not own or operate around backyard poultry, foul, or swine operations off duty.

• A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record is required.

POSITION PURPOSE Maintenance is responsible for all routine and preventive maintenance at each hatchery including controlling systems as directed by Maintenance Lead, Hatchery Manager, and/or Facilities Manager. Select Genetics, presents a solid platform to serve customers on a national and international scale by providing quality poults, service, and innovation. Select Genetics is the leading supplier of poults to growers and companies across the world and has operations in eight US States.

• Maintenance provides support for the maintenance function in the Hatchery. The position reports to and is supervised by the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Maintenance uses critical thinking, logic and reasoning to identify the problems or weaknesses in mechanical issues that arise.
• Maintenance finds alternative mechanical solutions, through proactive and creative approaches, with the ability to direct and instruct other workers in basic repair work and maintenance.
• Maintenance carries out all directives in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. All Company information will be handled with complete confidentiality.
• Work requires frequent bending, standing, walking and use of hand tools and machinery. Work is subject to tight deadlines and interruptions.

Select Genetics is a specialized transportation company with newer equipment. • Maintaining a license to drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs;

• Performing pick-up, unload, and safe transport for day old poults or eggs while handling all Company information with complete confidentiality;

Veterinary Laboratory Technician (Willmar, MN) The Select Genetics Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (Willmar, MN location) is seeking a full-time laboratory technician. In this position, you will work with veterinarians, other laboratory professionals, turkey growers, and other individuals from the industry. This position would involve assisting in necropsies, setting up and reading cultures and sensitivities, running ELISA serology, PCR testing, salmonella enrichment and isolation procedures, preparing media, preparing testing supplies, prepping samples, reporting results, sample collection, assisting in trials, and other daily tasks. A suitable candidate for a Diagnostic Laboratory Technician would be organized, have excellent communication and time management skills, be detail-oriented, and be familiar with anatomical terminology and basic poultry anatomy/physiology. We will consider all qualified individuals for the position, but previous experience/education in animal agriculture, veterinary/laboratory technology, or poultry is desired.

This role will be responsible for the general overall maintenance of the facilities and automation equipment utilized in the poult hatching process under the direction of the Hatchery Maintenance Supervisor. Minimum Skills Required:

• General knowledge of machinery and the diagnostic acumen to repair broken machinery.
• Able to work with a variety of tools and equipment including, but not limited to a fork lift, welding equipment, electric drill, electric meter, wrenches and screw drivers.
• Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to follow and adhere to the management all of company’s policies and regulations for bio security, animal welfare and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and hydraulics on fleet vehicles and equipment
• Lead, mentor, and collaborate with mechanics, wash crew, and support staff to foster a strong, effective team; provide guidance on repair techniques, safety, and quality standards.

Farm Maintenance

Farm Maintenance is responsible for priority repairs and maintenance in a timely and efficient manner in our facilities. This individual will utilize their experience with electrical, motor controls, mechanical, welding, and plumbing to assist the Farm Maintenance team with day to day operations of our farms and ensure up-keep on our equipment. Farm Maintenance must be able to perform hands on maintenance. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity working with farm equipment.

• Farm Maintenance schedules and completes maintenance of our facilities and equipment, diagnose and repair automobile engines, repair truck engines, tractor engines and other various small engines.
• Farm Maintenance carries out all directives following the Company’s policies and applicable laws, including scheduling, assigning and performing work. Farm Maintenance must have strong communication and collaborative skills, working extensively with team members.
• Work requires frequent sitting, standing, walking and the use of numerous tools.  Work is subject to tight deadlines and multitasking.  Work includes long hours, including weekends.

• During summer months outside temperatures can be over 100 degrees for the entire scheduled workday.
• During winter months outside temperatures can be below zero for the entire scheduled workday.

• Report to the maintenance supervisor any issues with interior or exterior facilities, including climate control, damages, or pest infestation problems or mishandling of birds.
• One year minimum of Maintenance experience.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Must have the ability to adapt time and efforts to high priority areas, including accommodating to various daily hours, on-call availability on nights and weekends on a rotating schedule.
• Be able to lift in excess of 50 lbs., push/pull up to 50 lbs., bend and squat, grip small objects, and be capable of repeated actions.
• Be able to walk and stand for long periods on different surfaces including concrete.
