December / January Update

Welcome to 2025!  As we reflect on the past year, we’re thrilled to share the holiday celebrations and the well-deserved awards recognizing the achievements of our teams.  In addition you’ll notice two new companies, Headstart Hatching and Nova-Tech Poultry have officially become part of our family of companies. Both companies, formed last year, have now successfully transitioned to their own benefit plans with team members transferring over to their respective companies.

As we embark on this new year, let’s take a moment to envision our goals, both personal and professional. What dreams do you aspire to achieve? What steps will you take to turn those aspirations into reality? Together, let’s make 2025 a year of growth, success, and fulfillment!  If you are looking for resources to guide you, below are a few that have been provided from our benefit providers:

Turkey Tasting Panel

Turkey Valley Farms (TVF) has been putting increased efforts into developing new/added-value products, meant to lighten our reliance on commodity prices. Prior to major production of new products, a series of internal feedback is often desired, and those events can be challenging to arrange. As a result, we are forming a simple process that will allow TVF to easily contact a panel of individuals from our Organization to receive, taste and provide feedback on new products. If you are interested in participating either as a prepared-product taste-tester OR a home cook, please click the link below and we’ll add you to our list of interested foodies!

To sign-up as a prepared-product taste-tester or a home cook, complete the following form:  TVF Turkey Panel

Holiday Parties & Celebrations

Pictured above are a few photos from the LSI & Affiliates Christmas Party at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres.  Attendees were able to enjoy a meal and matinee show of A White Christmas.  Below you’ll find pictures from several other holiday celebrations throughout the past month.

Turkey Valley Farms

Turkey Valley Farms hosted their annual staff meal with a delicious turkey dinner and handed out TVF logoed cups to employees.

Nova-Tech

An annual tradition for NTE, LSI and the wholly-owned companies is to hand out turkeys from Turkey Valley Farms to team members at Christmas time.  This year Nova-Tech got one of their Business Product Owners to dress up as Santa to help hand out the turkeys which got a lot of smiles and laughs.

LSI Shared Services

LSI Shared Services hosted a Christmas lunch for employees that included a ham dinner, fun games, and an Ugly Christmas sweater contest.

Virtual Training

The Select Genetics | Terre Haute management team got together recently for a virtual training with Bethany Wallace.  The training covered managing through conflict and active listening.

Nova-Tech Highlights

Training, Tradeshows, and Seminars

November was a very busy month for Nova-Tech Engineering and Nova-Tech Poultry.  The team hosted training on campus, attended tradeshows, and presented at seminars globally.  Here are some highlights from the past month.

Celebrating with our Teams

In the Nova-Tech Refurbishing department, the team recently set a goal and successfully achieved it.  Inspired by their success, they decided to raise the bar even higher – and exceeded that goal too! At Nova-Tech Engineering, we believe in celebrating our team’s accomplishments and showing our appreciation.  What better way to do that than by having our Business Product Owner dress up as Santa and spared some holiday cheer?  #appreciation #celebration #funatwork

Leadership Transition

This past year marked a significant leadership transition for Nova-Tech Engineering. Succession planning began ten years ago with the vision of Marc Gorans and Jim Sieben, culminating in a formal proposal reviewed by the board in 2019. In 2023, Landon Fries took on the role of President Elect, collaborating with Jim, who was serving as President. By 2024, Landon fully assumed the position of President, while Jim transitioned to the role of Past President. As of December 31, 2024, Jim retired from full-time work and remains in a consulting role for Nova-Tech Engineering and the MinnWest Technology campus. Our current Chief Executive Officer, Marc Gorans, also plans to make a similar change after the annual board meeting in early February.  We are deeply grateful for their vision, hard work, and the legacy they leave behind.  As we move forward, we are excited to prepare for Chris Gorans to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer while continuing to serve as Chief Financial Officer for Nova-Tech Engineering. The Senior Leadership Team will continue to support the President and CEO as an extension of leadership, ensuring a seamless and effective transition.
